The unemployment rate is going up in the country because of dwindling foreign direct investment. Remittances – though their volume has increased in recent years – have failed to create business opportunities for a large segment of the population.

Moreover, the industrial output has been adversely affected by unprecedented loadshedding. Though it is hard to woo FDI considering the security situation, employment opportunities can be generated by increasing industrial activity locally. This can be done by ensuring uninterrupted supply of power by using alternative energy sources such as solar and proving people with home battery storage devices.
