Commerce minister extends support to businesses

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan on Friday assured full support to the business community as it has been struggling hard for the last few years.

During a visit to the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) office, Jam noted that uncertain political situation has further added to the problems being faced by the business community.

He assured complete support from the Ministry of Commerce as well as the government of Pakistan under the vision of the prime minister to boost the economy and the ease of doing business.

He said that the survival of the economy is directly proportional to the performance of the Ministry of Commerce and chambers of commerce, adding that trade officers in missions have been especially assigned to promote the trade and commerce of the country.

During his meeting with FPCCI officials, the commerce minister was apprised regarding the apprehensions among members of the business community about constant loadshedding and hikes in gas and electricity tariffs.

Jam Kamal said that the country’s economic situation was badly affected due to the post-Covid pandemic, and there was a time when the situation was quite alarming due to default rumours. Despite all challenges, this country has not only survived but is now going in the right direction under the vision of the prime minister, he added.He also spoke about past free trade agreements (FTAs) and added that these did not benefit Pakistan.
