KARACHI: The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is leading a trade delegation of 26 sesame seed exporters and growers to China from August 18 to August 24. This initiative is aimed at boosting Pakistan’s agricultural exports and reinforcing trade relations with key international markets.
China is a significant growth market for Pakistani sesame seeds. In the previous year, Pakistan exported sesame seeds worth $283.5 million to China, out of a global total of $406 million. With sesame cultivation in Pakistan expanding to 2.5 million acres and an anticipated production of 0.5 million tonnes, there is considerable potential for increased exports to China.
During the visit, the delegation will start in Beijing from August 19 to August 21, where the Pakistan Mission has arranged a series of B2B meetings with prominent Chinese sesame seed importers. These interactions will offer Pakistani exporters an opportunity to engage directly with potential buyers and explore new business prospects. The delegation will then proceed to Shanghai on August 21, with further meetings scheduled in Suzhou and Ningbo, key hubs for agricultural trade in China.
This visit is expected to unlock new opportunities for Pakistani sesame seed exporters, enhancing their market presence and contributing to the growth of Pakistan’s agricultural export sector. TDAP remains dedicated to supporting exporters in tapping into new markets and maximizing the export potential of Pakistani products on the global stage.
