ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan Monday announced to file a review petition against the recount decision, saying that the apex court verdict to restore the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) MNAs is not correct.
He claimed that the decision of the Supreme Court (SC) is against the requirements of justice. Holding a news conference with the party leaders here, he said that there were many conspiracies against his party and claimed the first plan was to take away election symbol from them. “Alhamdulillah, on February 8, the people failed this plan,” he remarked.
Gohar said that then an attempt was made against PTI under what he called the Plan B to not give them the reserved seats, but they (rivals) also faced failure and added that now their seats are being taken away from them under the guise of recount. “Like our won seats should be converted into lost ones,” he alleged.
“We regret that the Supreme Court should have looked at this in a larger context, having a look at the role of the Election Commission which is to conduct clean and transparent elections and if fails in this and does not protect the ballots, then it becomes the duty of the high court to interfere,” he contended.
PTI chairman said, “There is no scope for extension now, and we demand the government issue notification of the incoming Chief Justice immediately.” He said that those who strengthen their hold should take a lesson from Bangladesh. He added all those plotting against PTI will fail.
Shibli Faraz, who is Leader of Opposition in the Senate, said that the SC decision is a continuation of February 8, adding they have given around 60 petitions for recount, but no decision has been taken on them.
PTI Information Secretary Raoof Hasan said that the Chief Justice of Pakistan repeatedly said no to listen to their cases. He added this was not so in relation to the rivals’ cases.
