LAHORE: Major General (Retd) Muhammad Akram Sahi, Chairman of the Athletics Federation of Pakistan, has expressed immense pride in Arshad Nadeem’s historic Olympic gold medal victory.
Speaking to the media here, Sahi highlighted the significance of the moment, which he described as the realisation of a decade-long vision. “We promised the nation ten years ago that we would win medals on the world stage, and today, we have fulfilled that promise,” Sahi stated.
“My dream and goal have always been to see the green crescent flag of Pakistan raised at international forums and to hear our national anthem played.” He noted that the journey to this success was fraught with challenges, but the triumph silenced the critics of Pakistan’s athletics programme.
“Democracy is the best revenge in politics, and performance is the best revenge in sports,” Sahi remarked. “This medal is just the beginning of our journey of success, and we will achieve even more for the nation in the coming days.”
