LAHORE: WAPDA secured their first-ever championship title by defeating the Army 17-0 in the final of the 25th Men’s Parco National Rugby Championship 2024.
The event, held on Sunday, attracted a large crowd. The championship featured intense semifinal matches. In the first semifinal, Pakistan Army triumphed over Punjab Yellow. WAPDA emerged victorious against Islamabad Jinns in the second semifinal.
Punjab Yellow showcased impressive skills, narrowly defeating Islamabad Jinns 15-10 to claim the third position in a closely contested match. WAPDA’s dominance was evident from the start of the final match. Amsal set the tone early, scoring a try just two minutes into the game. Aamir added another try in the ninth minute, which was successfully converted by Amsal, giving WAPDA a commanding 12-0 lead at halftime. Despite Army’s efforts to make a comeback in the second half, WAPDA’s Afzaal scored another try, sealing the match at 17-0 and securing the championship title.
