Arshad Nadeem has made us proud. His record breaking 92.97 metre javelin throw at the ongoing Paris Olympics marks the first time that Pakistan has claimed gold in an individual event at the Olympics. Many congratulations to Arshad Nadeem, his family, and the whole country on this spectacular win. Arshad has given a great gift to the nation right before Independence Day. I would also like to congratulate Neeraj Chopra, who came second to Arshad and won the silver medal in the javelin throw and the bronze medallist Anderson Peters from Grenada.
The credit for this gold medal belongs solely to Arshad, who has had to struggle without adequate support from our sports bodies. His journey has been tough but he has managed to achieve outstanding results nonetheless. That being said, the state needs to pay more attention to how much help it gives to our athletes, especially the non-cricketers. The support on offer has not been adequate and many of our athletes are often left to struggle on their own.
