Rs47.88m spent on security of judges, officers, ministers in April: report

44 vehicles and 532 police officers are performing duties with dignitaries round-the-clock for their security

ISLAMABAD: An interior ministry report presented in the National Assembly on Friday showed that Rs47.88 million were spent on the security of judges, bureaucrats and ministers in April this year.

According to the report, 44 vehicles and 532 police officers are performing duties with the dignitaries round-the-clock for their security.

For judges, 34 vehicles have been provided with monthly expenditure of Rs3.44m and 409 gunmen/escort/house guards, and their salary expenditure is Rs33.43 million and it totalled to Rs36.88 million.

For bureaucrats, six vehicles have been deputed with expenditures of Rs469,113, and 79 gunmen/escort/house guard and expenditure on them is Rs6.46m and the total expenditure is Rs6.93m. For ministers, four vehicles have been deputed with expenditure of Rs472,931 and 44 gunmen/escort/house guard and expenditure on them is Rs3.5m (Rs3,595,344) and total expenditure is Rs4.6 million [Rs4.068,275).

Another interior ministry report presented details of expenditures on repair/ maintenance of Parliament House building during the last five years. It showed that in the year 2019-20, Rs108.72m were spent on repair/ maintenance of Parliament House building, in 2020-21, Rs171.373m were spent, in 2021-22, Rs286.198m, in 2022-23 Rs302.748m and in 2023-24, Rs60m were spent on repair/ maintenance of the Parliament House building.
