Pakistan is in the grip of multiple crises despite the formation of elected governments in the centre and provinces. The Supreme Court ruling on reserved seats has caused more polarization between the federal government and the judiciary while the security situation has become alarming. The demand for snap elections in the country by certain elements has also added to uncertainty and instability. It is high time for the incumbent political leadership to convene a round table conference and consult with all political stakeholders on the issues confronting the state. Any intransigence on the part of the government may exacerbate our problems and lead to the kind of unrest we are seeing in Bangladesh and Kenya.
