The Afghan Taliban regime has faced numerous issues including isolation from much of the rest of the world. However, despite facing external challenges, the Taliban have successfully stabilized the internal landscape of the country. Last week’s UN monitoring report on Afghanistan highlights some positive developments in the country including less corruption, more internal stability and a fragile but surviving economy.
However, the marginalization of women and safe haven for terrorist groups like the TTP remain concerns. The Afghan Taliban need to address these problems, which will help them gain international recognition.
