LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the new selection committee ahead of the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, scheduled to commence in late August.
The decision to form a new selection committee follows the removal of former pacer Wahab Riaz and all-rounder Abdul Razzaq from their roles.
The newly constituted selection committee comprises captains for red and white-ball formats, head coaches for red and white-ball cricket, Asad Shafiq, and Mohammad Yousuf. Non-voting members of the committee are assistant coach Azhar Mahmood, Advisor to Chairman Bilal Afzal, Manager Analytics and Team Strategy Hassan Cheema, Direct High Performance Nadeem Khan, and Director International Cricket Usman Wahla.
The new committee will be responsible for determining the squad that will represent Pakistan in the two-Test series against Bangladesh, forming a crucial part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle.
The restructuring of the selection committee comes in the aftermath of Pakistan’s disappointing campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024, which led to the removal of Wahab and Razzaq from their selector roles. Subsequently, Wahab was also relieved of his duties as the senior team manager of the men’s side.
Pakistan vs Bangladesh series schedule: First Test: August 21 – 25, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium Second Test: August 30 – September 3, National Bank Stadium Karachi.
