LAHORE: In response to the national cricket team’s disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup 2024, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to revise the central contracts of players.

The consultation process for these changes is expected to take place next week. The revision is going to be based on performance and not seniority. Both the white-ball skipper Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan are likely to be demoted from Category A. Sources said that Fakhar Zaman and Haris Rauf might be demoted to Category B. Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Saim Ayub, and Shahnawaz Dahani are reportedly not being considered for central contracts.

Saud Shakeel and Shan Masood are likely to be promoted in the central contract list. Players who have shown outstanding performance in domestic cricket are also being considered for inclusion in the central contract and the Test squad against Bangladesh.
