Usher's discipline in health and fitness is as unwavering as his dedication to his craft, as the two are undoubtedly inseparable.

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, the 45-year-old King of R&B shared insights into his daily regimen that keeps him physically and mentally fit.

The father of four kicks off each morning with a “moment of reflection” – from reading books to meditating or practicing yoga – in order to “stimulate [his] mind.”

“It really does help to activate my organs and get my mind moving in the right direction,” Usher explained.

Currently, he's experimenting with a steaming hot “concoction of lemon, ginger, water, and cayenne pepper,” though celery juice is usually his go-to morning drink.

Breakfast for the eight-time Grammy-winner only happens after he’s “done something physical,” whether it's exercising or soaking in the morning sun, as he believes in warming his body up before indulging in a meal.

However, Wednesdays break this routine as he follows a fasting practice inspired by his grandmother.

“I fast, not for religious purposes, but it’s something my grandmother practiced. I typically try to start around 11 p.m. the previous day, then go the entire day on Wednesday just drinking water.”

Indeed, Usher’s hectic job necessitates peak fitness; for instance, his Super Bowl halftime show which he described as “one of the hardest 15 minutes that I’ll ever have in my life.”

For the show, he intensified his already strict exercise and diet regimen. Alongside daily workouts, he adhered to a regimented, low-carb diet to ensure peak physical condition.
