US fans determined to create 'home ground' vibe for Pakistan's cricket team

The United States has embraced cricket as it hosts the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's T20 World Cup for the first time and fans of the beloved sport couldn't be more excited.

The tournament commenced on June 1 and has seen some proimising competitions so far, revived the thrill and excitement among cricket fans in the US.

As Pakistan's cricket team looks forward to kick start their 2024 T20 World Cup campaign as they take on Team US today at 8:30pm Pakistan time, there fans had some encouraging words to say.

While speaking to Geo News, supporters of Pakistan cricket team seemed determined to make their beloved team feel like playing on "home gorund".

"It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have a match in the US," one fan told Geo News.

While they vowed to remind Babar Azam's men of home, they also hoped for Pakistan's victory in tonight's tight match.

"I am very hopeful for Pakistan to win the match but it’s not going to be an easy match. I'’s a match to beat. This is the US’s first time (in the T20 World Cup), it's hungry," another fan said.

"I feel that it's going to be tight match. It's not going to be a walk in the park," he added.

Most fans have high hopes for a commendable performance from Azam and wicketkeeper and batsman Muhammad Rizwan. The fans also look forward to make Dallas's Grand Prairie Stadium echo with the famous anthem, "Dil Dil Pakistan".

While speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Azam reminisced Pakistan's 2009 victory under former captain Younis Khan.

He said: "It is now my career objective and target to win the T20 World Cup, relive those memories and present the title to the passionate people of Pakistan, who have always stood behind us like a rock in good and not so very good days."
