ISLAMABAD: The Environment Wing of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has detained three persons for their alleged involvement in setting alight forests on the Margalla Hills.

The Authority spokesman said the three suspects were nabbed from the Klinjer Valley where the fire erupted Friday morning. He said cases had also been registered against 15 other people.

On the chairman’s directives, the frequency of patrolling on the Margalla Hills has been increased to keep an eye on the suspects and report the fire incidents to the headquarters immediately.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad administration engaged a helicopter to extinguish the fire. The fire erupted behind the Faisal Masjid and spread quickly due to the soaring temperatures and gusty winds.
