ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Wednesday reserved its verdict on the Punjab government’s review petitions filed against the bail of a blasphemy accused Mubarak Ahmed Sani.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, heard the review petition of the Punjab government against Sani’s bail who’s accused of distributing a banned book.
In pursuance of the court’s last order, representatives of various religious institutions and the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) submitted their proposals. The court had sought their assistance and opinion on the religious aspect of the matter.
The other members of the bench were Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan. The chief justice said first, they will hear the response of the institutions of the rest of the religious schools of thought. Later, the court reserved the judgment on the review petition.
