Two killed in road accidents; six hurt in wall collapse

Two people, including a woman, were killed in road traffic accidents on Tuesday, while a policeman and his family were injured after a wall of the next-door under-construction house collapsed on their home.

A vehicle hit a female pedestrian on the Gharibabad underpass and sped away. The woman died on the spot. Her body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH). Police said the unidentified victim appeared to be around 30 years old.

In Awami Colony a motorcyclist was killed after a speeding vehicle struck him on the Korangi No. 5 bridge. His body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. He was identified as Sheikh Areeb, 25, son of Sheikh Abdul Hafez.

Wall collapse

Six of a family were injured after a wall collapsed in Sector 7C of North Karachi. The victims were taken to the ASH. They were identified as Rehman Ramzan, 30, his brother Arsalan Ramzan, 25, Rehman’s wife Atiqa, 25, and the couple’s children Hassan, 18, Mustaqeem, 4, and Maryam, 3.

Sir Syed SHO Iftikhar Khan said Rehman is a policeman serving as a CCTV footage focal person at the Paposh Nagar police station. The wall that collapsed was being constructed on the first floor of the next-door house, and it fell on the roof of Rehman’s home.
