Pakistan TT players win medals in SL

LAHORE: The Pakistan table tennis team won three bronze medals in the ongoing South Asian Championship being held in Sri Lanka. The boys soubles team has battled their way through the competition and will face India in the final match.

Five Pakistani players (four boys and one girl) have qualified for the singles event quarter-finals in Under-15 and Under-19 categories. Women’s Singles Under-19: Hoor Fawad (PAK) reached the Main Draw, winning against opponents from Nepal (3-2) and Maldives (3-0). Bisma Faryal’s (PAK) campaign includes a loss against Maldives (0-3) with a match against Sri Lanka still to be played.

Under-19 Boys: Shayan Farooq (PAK) faced a close match against Bangladesh (lost 1-3) but secured a win against Nepal (3-2).

Under-15 Boys: Abbas Amjad (PAK) secured victories against Sri Lanka (3-2) and Nepal (3-1) to reach the Main Draw. Details for Abdhal Khan’s (PAK) second match are yet to be revealed, with a win recorded in the first match (3-1).

Under-15 Girls: Zunaira Khan (PAK) couldn’t clinch wins in her matches against Bangladesh (2-3) and Sri Lanka (0-3).
