ISLAMABAD: Imad Wasim has said that with a better aggressive intent, Pakistan could have ended up on a winning side in the second T20 against England at Edgbaston. In a post-media talk, he said when he was at the crease with Iftikhar there were good chances of finishing the game as the run rate was less than 10.
“We should have finished the match as the run rate for the last few overs was not so high. Unluckily, we both lost our wickets making it difficult for the rest of the batting lineup to plug the gap. I always try to calculate things while at the crease and try to play according to the situation but it was a day where we missed some key moments.”
Imad added that some positives were coming out of the match. “Fakhar’s aggression was a key to the Pakistan run chase. We should have shown more aggression in middle overs as Fakhar did. But we lost some wickets at crucial time. We would have to show more aggression from here on to win matches,” Imad said.
The all-rounder who was the pick of bowlers during the first T20 against England said that the middle-order should have been dominated. “I feel that we should have dominated middle-overs where middle-order was in operation. We should have dominated the proceedings by attacking bowlers rather than getting involved in soft cricket. We lack this aspect. I think the time has come to decide as how to attack during middle-overs. We missed that chance on two occasions during the match. All the efforts should be made to put our words into action.”
