The paramilitary force of Sindh in collaboration with the District City Police arrested a most wanted accused, Mohammad Hamid alias Pia, in the Eidgah area of Karachi.
A hand grenade was seized from the possession of the accused during the operation, which was based on intelligence inputs.
The spokesman for the Sindh Rangers said Hamid had been working for the MQM-Haqiqi till 2009 and then joined the MQM-London.
The accused has also been the leader of a dacoit gang in Karachi, apart from being involved in targeted killings of opponents.
During the initial interrogation, Hamid confessed to being involved in targeted killings from 1994 to April 2014 as well as in the target killing of a police officer.
He, along with his accomplices, revealed that he was involved in bank robberies in different areas of Karachi from 2007 to 2008, snatching 123 tolas of gold from four jewellery shops and looting containers filled with valuables, as well as extortion with Lyari gang war.
He further revealed that he had also been supplying dozens of Kalashnikovs, LMGs and thousands of ammunition to the MQM-London and Lyari gang war, and that the weapons had been used for terrorism activities in the city.
The accused had been living in Sukkur, Peshawar, Islamabad since 2014. There are also 11 FIRs registered against him at different police stations. Raids are being conducted to arrest other accomplices of the accused.
