The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) on Monday announced postponing the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations to be held between May 21 and May 27 by a week due to the heatwave forecast for Sindh.
A BSEK notification explained that the decision was made because of the heatwave alert from the national and provincial disaster management authorities. The exams will now resume on May 28, with a new schedule for the postponed exams to be announced later.
The postponement was announced shortly after the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi delayed their exams to be held between May 22 and May 27 due to the heatwave forecast. Karachi has been experiencing heatwave-like conditions, and temperatures are expected to rise over the next 10 days.
BSEK Controller of Examinations Khalid Ehsan said the exams were postponed to protect students from the heat. He said that the new exam schedule circulating on social media is false, and that the official schedule would be released soon.
