American technology giant Microsoft is set to organise its event on May 20 (Monday) where new product announcements, improvements in existing services and incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) features is widely expected, according to several media reports.

Express UK reported Sunday that Microsoft is bringing about a crucial upgrade that would motivate the users of Windows 10 to shift to Windows 11, as a large number of people are sticking to the older version of the operating system.

During the event, the Redmond-based behemoth is also anticipated to make announcements about new versions of Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6. The expectations are that these new machines would be equipped with Snapdragon X Elite chipsets, shifting from the Intel and AMD chips that the company has used in its Surface products.

These devices were released previously but were limited to business customers, and equipped with Intel and AMD systems.

As the global tech competition heats up, Microsoft plans to have an edge with its snapdragon chips, which are reported to be way more powerful than Apple’s MacBook with an M3 processor.

The AI features are also on the table, as the Bill Gates-founded company had marked 2024 as "the year of the AI PC". So, the incorporation of several powerful AI-powered systems is also expected.

As a note quoted by The Verge read: "It’s clear Microsoft has grown tired of Intel’s failed attempts at a comeback, so it’s going all-in on these latest Qualcomm chips — and bringing its closest PC partners along for the ride."
