LAHORE: Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi has expressed his optimism and readiness for the T20 World Cup in America and the West Indies.

Speaking on the 50th episode of the PCB Podcast, Afridi highlighted his fitness and the team’s positive morale as they prepare for the prestigious tournament. Afridi shared his desire to see Pakistan lift the T20 World Cup trophy and conveyed his commitment to bringing joy to the nation. “We are tired of telling people that we will win the World Cup, but God willing, we will do it this time,” he stated confidently.

Reflecting on his interaction with the new head coach, Gary Kirsten, Shaheen emphasised an important message Kirsten shared: “You should not play for the name on the back of your shirt, but for the name on the chest at the front.” Shaheen believes this philosophy is crucial for both current and upcoming cricketers.

He praised the current team atmosphere, noting that their primary focus is to play cricket and bring happiness to their supporters.
