Cruel act

Farmers are furious about the import of wheat in the second half of last year and the first three months of this year, resulting in an excess of wheat in the market and reducing prices. Agriculture is one of the most significant economic sectors in Pakistan, making up nearly a quarter of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country. Wheat alone accounts for almost 2 per cent of the country’s GDP. While Pakistan is in dire need of more exports, those in charge of economic affairs appear to be driving the nation in the opposite direction. Resultantly, the farmers are suffering badly despite a bumper wheat crop. Those responsible for this cruel act must be held accountable.
