US embassy official calls on Shibli Faraz

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Political Counselor of the American Embassy, Christopher J Brown, held a meeting with Senator Shibli Faraz, Leader of the Opposition in Senate, at the Parliament House here on Thursday.

According to the Senate Secretariat, they exchanged views on Pakistan-US relations, economic and political situation and matters of bilateral significance. Faraz emphasized that the economic and political stability was interlinked, highlighting the need for collaborative efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation. He said there was a need to promote a conducive environment for constructive discourse and progress. Acknowledging the challenges facing the nation, he called for engaging with all stakeholders. “Dialogue with all stakeholders is the only solution,” he asserted, stressing the significance of inclusive decision-making processes. Echoing the sentiment of continuity and stability, Faraz underscored the importance of consistent policies to ensure sustainable development. “Continuity of policies is essential for sustainable development,” he emphasized and observed that majority of the population consisted of youths and they had to be brought into the mainstream of development. Furthermore, he emphasized the urgency of implementing reforms across various sectors, with a particular focus on the power sector and state-owned enterprises. Both reiterated their commitment to strengthening Pak-US relations and fostering mutual understanding for the prosperity and well-being of both nations.
