Donald Trump’s former political advisor, Hope Hicks, has testified against him, ruining any chance of him coming out unscathed from the hush money trial, India Todayreported.

Hicks served as Trump's campaign spokesperson during 2016 and was a close confidante of the former president.

In court, Hicks said that Trump told her in the final days of the 2016 elections to deny that he had any sexual relationship with adult star Stormy Daniels.

She said, "He wanted to make sure that there was a denial of any kind of relationship."

Furthermore, she claimed that Trump did not want his wife, Melania, to find out about the relationship, including former Playboy model Karen McDowall.

"He was concerned about how it would be viewed by his wife, and he wanted me to make sure the newspapers weren’t delivered to the residence that morning,” Hicks said.

As per aBBCreport, Hicks teared up briefly during the testimony.

Prosecutors in the first ever criminal trial of a former United States president argue that the payments made to Daniels corrupted the result of the 2016 presidential elections by suppressing news that could have otherwise influenced the voters.
