LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed the itinerary for the national team’s tour to South Africa, comprising three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests.
The T20Is will be held in Durban, Centurion, and Johannesburg from December 10-14, followed by the ODIs scheduled from December 17-22 in Paarl, Cape Town, and Johannesburg. The two ICC World Test Championship matches will take place at Centurion from December 26-30 and Cape Town from January 3-7.
Departing for Durban on December 2, the team will conclude their African tour on January 8. Upon returning home, Pakistan will engage in a three-nation ODI tournament involving New Zealand and South Africa, followed by the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.
Preceding the tours of Australia and South Africa, Pakistan will host Bangladesh and England for two and three Tests, respectively. This packed schedule entails seven Tests, a minimum of 10 ODIs, and six T20Is between August 2024 and January 2025.
Pakistan’s history in South Africa includes notable victories in Test matches, with wins in 1997-98 and 2006-2007 series. In ODIs, they have emerged victorious in two of the last three series, while T20Is have seen closely contested encounters, with Pakistan leading 6-5 in head-to-head encounters.
In 2021, Pakistan beat South Africa 3-1 in the T20I series with Babar Azam being the player of the series. He scored 210 runs. Muhammad Rizwan, Hassan Ali and Muhammad Nawaz were the other leading contributors to the series triumph.
Pakistan won the ODI series by 2-1 with Fakhar Zaman being the player of the series. He scored 302 runs.
Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi and Babar Azam were the other leading performers.
