Ronaldo was among the very best in the English top-flight league and the reigning Ballon d’Or winner at that point.

Managed by Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United, were not convenient with selling their valuable asset.

In a recent interview via Madrid Xtra, Calderon said: “It wasn’t very difficult, he wanted Real Madrid. It was more difficult to convince Manchester.”

“Logically, they didn’t want him to leave. Thanks to the player’s will and the commitment made by both sides in December 2008, the deal was completed at the end of the season,” he added.

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently playing for Al Nassr with a contract till 2025. He is having the best time with his family in Saudi Arabia and continues to rule hearts of his fans despite going through game suspensions.
