ISLAMABAD: Senator Faisal Vawda has written to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) registrar, requesting for the correspondence between Justice Babar Sattar and then chief justice Athar Minallah with regard to the US green card to be provided to him and made public.
Vawda wrote in his letter that the propaganda campaign against Justice Sattar would end forever by making the green card correspondence public. The senator shared his letter to the IHC registrar on social media platform X, stating that as a Pakistani citizen, he believes in the independence of the judiciary, and has the utmost respect for judges.
He said the registrar issued a press release in response to the smear campaign against Justice Sattar to clarify that Justice Sattar had informed the then chief justice about his green card before becoming a judge.Vawda said that the correspondence between Justice Sattar and then chief justice Minallah should be provided to him under Article 19-A of the constitution. He shared his letter on X on Tuesday, but the IHC registrar’s office denied receiving it, saying that if the letter was sent the same day, it would reach the office in a day or two.
