Khawaja Junaid accompanied MNA Hanif Abbasi to inaugurate the academy on Monday. “The World Cup 1994 winning by Khawaja Junaid is our pride. This academy is being named after him. Hopefully, the academy will nourish budding players for future national outfits,” Hanif said.

The women cricket academy in collaboration with the Pakistan Cricket Board is already working at the college. “This is another big addition aimed at helping the young talent to make their name at national and international levels.”

Hanif on the occasion said that he has helped install 20 artificial hockey turfs in Punjab during the last two years. “It is a big achievement as 20 artificial turfs have alone been installed throughout Punjab during the last two years with the main aim to help club level players to get training at the artificial surface.”

He added that the hockey academy at the college would start working within the next ten days. “Khawaja Junaid Hockey Academy will provide sticks, balls and other gear while the onus will be on the college to pick the best youth for academy training.”
