LHC imposes Rs0.1m fine on housing societies involved in wasting water

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday ordered the imposition of Rs100,000 fine on any of the private housing societies found responsible for wasting water.

During a hearing in the smog eradication case,

the court further ordered to speed up action against such housing societies in order to save water and ensure the implementation of court orders.

Moreover, the court also ordered to start cleanliness awareness campaign with the help of school students and parents from May 1, which is also the International Labour Day.

Deputy Attorney General Asad Ali Bajwa appeared before the court in the case, while the members of the Environment Commission submitted an implementation report on the court orders. The court adjourned the hearing till May 3.
