RAWALPINDI: Former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has filed appeal for acquittal in May 9 cases.

Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), Rawalpindi, on Tuesday heard three cases relating to May 9 incidents against Sheikh Rashid and his nephew Sheikh Rashid Shafique.

Awami Muslim League chief appeared in the court with his lawyers Sardar Raziq and Sardar Shehbaz.

During proceedings, Rashid s lawyer filed an application for acquittal of the AML chief. The court while issuing notice on the acquittal plea adjourned hearing of the case till May 14. As many as three cases were registered at Cantt Morgah and Taxila police stations against Sheikh Rashid.

Speaking to media outside the court, Sheikh Rashid said all the cases registered against him are fake and bogus.

He said that he was appearing in the court regularly, adding that he would fight his cases and the courts would decide all the cases in his favour.
