ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court was Tuesday requested to direct the federal and provincial governments to implement to the letter all points of the National Action Plan 2014, approved by the parliament to combat terrorism and extremism.
The Shuhada Forum Balochistan, through its Patron-in-Chief Nawabzada Jamal Raisani, filed a petition with the Supreme Court under Article 184(3) of the Constitution, making the Federation through the secretary Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs Division, secretaries ministries of defence, interior as well chief secretaries of the four provinces as respondent.
Filed through advocate Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar, the petitioner prayed the apex court to direct the federal and provincial governments to implement all the points of NAP 2014 in letter and spirit without delay.
The petitioner submitted that in cooperation with the stakeholders, Nacta/the Ministry of Interior developed a 20-point National Action Plan (NAP) to combat terrorism and extremism, which was subsequently approved by the parliament on December 24, 2014.
He submitted that the plan had spelt out the specifics for the counter-terrorism drive in the country but sadly despite having a national consensus, the plan had not been implemented by the governments.
He prayed the apex court that the federal and provincial governments may kindly be directed to immediately initiate legal, justice, prosecution and police reforms for an expeditious vibrant criminal justice system and to implement the Police Order, 2002 in letter and spirit throughout Pakistan.
