WhatsApp is currently developing a new feature which aims to enhance the user experience, by simplifying contact management.

This new feature, called "Manage favorites," will allow users to create a list of preferred chats, lowering the need for extensive navigation through contact lists, according to WABetaInfo.

The feature’s main goal is to facilitate both voice and video calls. It will be rolled out to beta Android users in the near future.

Users will be enabled to compile a custom list of contacts for quick calling in a "Favorites" section within their WhatsApp settings by this new feature.

Eliminating the need for excessive scrolling, this update is anticipated to be particularly beneficial for those with long contact lists. Moreover, the existing Account settings in the app are likely to be the location of this new option.

Interestingly, WhatsApp will not notify the chosen individual about this change, when a user will designate someone as a favourite.

Allowing users to highlight their most significant chats from the main list, WhatsApp experimented with a "Favorites" feature for its web version previously.

The upcoming Favorites feature could potentially offer more personalised communication options on Android, such as sharing statuses exclusively with favourite contacts.
