Singer Mandisa Lynn Hundley sent fans into mourning following her sudden passing at the age of 47.

A rep for the American Idol alum confirmed about the demise from unknown cause via an official statement released Friday morning.

"At this time, we do not know the cause of death or any further details," it read. "We ask for your prayers for her family and close-knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time."

An investigation is now underway by officers at the Franklin Police Department to work out the cause of death of Mandisa, who was found lifeless in her Nashville-area home a day earlier.

"What I can confirm is that our officers responded to a residence for a death investigation Thursday evening, and its being actively investigated," Franklin Police Department spokesperson Max Winitz wrote in an email to The Tennessean Friday.

Hundley kicked off her journey at the esteemed singing competition in 2005, going on to finish in the final nine in Chicago.

She later continued to showcase her passion for music by releasing multiple songs and albums.

Her album, Overcomer, ended up winning best contemporary Christian Music Album at the 56th Grammy Awards in 2014.
