Actress Barbara O. Jones died on Tuesday, April 16 at the age of 82 at her home in Dayton, Ohio.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Barbara's brother Raymond Minor confirmed the Daughters of the Dust alum’s death.

The actress who appeared on Bush Mama, is known for working on a number of notable 1970s’ TV shows, including Wonder Woman, Laverne & Shirley and Lou Grant.

Meanwhile, she established a name for herself, appearing in several prominent movies during her time.

Her movies include the 1973 short film Child of Resistance, 1977's Diary Of An African Nun for writer–director Julie Dash, 1979's Bush Mama for writer–director Haile Gerima and 1979'sFreedom Road.

Best known in the film industry as Jones, the Mute Love actress rose to fame after starting a career in radio ahead of acting.

She was featured on the show WDAO in the 1960s’ as Bobbie Montgomery, according to the outlet.

The actress, who is known for playing alongside the late Muhammad Ali in NBC’s mini-series Freedom Road, is survived by her children Gina, William, and her brother Marlon.
