ISLAMABAD: Though three weeks have passed, the federal government has not been able to appoint the inspector general of Capital Police.

The Establishment Division posted DIG Operations Lahore, Police Service Grade 20 officer Syed Nasir Ali Rizvi, as IG Police, Islamabad, on March 29.

Former IG Police Akbar Nasir Khan, who was replaced on March 30, had relinquished the charge. Nasir Ali Rizvi has not yet joined duty as he has not been relieved by the Punjab government.

The chief commissioner of Islamabad had advised the government to give the temporary charge of the IGP office to the headquarter DIG Hasan Raza but the government has not approved it.
