Elon Musk is continuing his chaos on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

X's owner said that it will start charging new users for posts in an effort to get rid of bot and spam accounts, according to Entrepreneur.

The 52-year-old Musk replied that initiating a "small fee" was the "only way" to get rid of bots on the platform in response to a post on X that claimed that he was initially testing the new policy to "improve the experience for users overall."

"Unfortunately, a small fee for new user write access is the only way to curb the relentless onslaught of bots. Current AI [and troll farms] can pass 'are you a bot' with ease," the founder of SpaceX and Tesla said.

"New AI technology has the capability of surpassing prompts that are meant to curb bots," the billionaire claimed.

Musk responded to a user concerned that charging new users would make the platform less "special" in another post.

New users would only have to pay the fee for three months before they could post freely, he clarified that the pay plan would be short-lived.

"This is only for new users. They will be able to do write actions for free after 3 months," said the former CEO of X.

However, Musk did not provide details on how much the fee would be nor when it is set to be implemented.
