Talking to Geo News, Siddiqui said there was an opinion in the PMLN that the party needed a full-time president. In the past, Nawaz Sharif made Javed Hashmi the party president and then Shehbaz Sharif, he noted. Shehbaz Sharif is busy, as economic recovery was his mission, Siddiqui said adding that he did not have enough time to run the party.

Siddiqui said there was an opinion in the PMLN that Nawaz Sharif should take over the charge as the party president. A decision would be taken in a couple of months, he said.

The PMLN leader said there was an opinion that political posts should be separated from the government ones. Whoever has a ministry is paying attention to it, and the party is being ignored, he added.

Regarding Nawaz becoming a party to the Islamabad High Court judges case, Senator Siddiqui said there was no truth in the news. “He is not filing any petition in this case,” he added.

Siddiqui said Nawaz Sharif’s cases had been concluded legally. “The cases against him have been morally and politically won,” he remarked.

He said after the testimony of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Judge Arshad Malik, the facts had come before everyone. There was no need for Nawaz Sharif to get these cases investigated and file an application.
