Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered a reduction in prices of roti, naan, and bread. It is not unusual for a reduction in prices to be accompanied by a corresponding decline in quality, particularly when it comes to food.
This can pose a serious risk to public health. The provincial governments should remember the saying that ‘it is not charity but justice that alleviates poverty’.
