Pakistan's street crime rate is rising daily as a result of poverty and unemployment. Recently, a cousin of mine who came to visit from Chishtian was the victim of a robbery. He was here for Eid and, although his room was locked, the thieves managed to get in and steal almost all his belongings.
It is imperative that the government take effective steps to reduce street crime in Pakistan, including by addressing the country’s economic woes.
