HYDERABAD: The Sindh Irrigation & Drainage Authority (Sida) has advised farmers to cultivate crops late due to the fear of water shortage in the Indus River affecting rice and cotton cultivation.
The Indus River System Authority (Irsa) has informed Sida of up to 30 per cent shortage of water in the Indus River until June 10, due to which rice and cotton cultivation in the province is likely to be affected. In a statement issued by Sida, farmers have been advised to start cultivation of both rice and cotton late in view of the current shortage of water so that water can be received on time.
