Mosquito menace

Malaria and dengue claim hundreds of lives in Pakistan each year but the issue almost always goes unnoticed by the municipal and union council authorities. The lack of large-scale fumigation drives is a matter of grave concern.

The health authorities must issue directives to local authorities to initiate robust measures to curb the proliferation of mosquito-borne diseases. Aside from fumigation, the municipal authorities should also be provided with mosquito nets and repellents which must then be distributed among the communities most at risk.
