LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has suspended the notification on the success of PMLN leader Azhar Qayyum from NA-81 Gujranwala.
Justice Shahid Karim of the LHC heard the petition filed by Bilal Ijaz Chaudhry from the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) on Thursday. The counsel for the petitioner informed the court that Bilal Ijaz Chaudhry was declared successful with a lead of 8,000 votes. However, the election commission declared Azhar Qayyum successful after a recount. The returning officer reduced 2.5 percent of the petitioner’s votes during the recount. Therefore, the court was requested to suspend the notification regarding the success of PMLN leader Azhar Qayyum.
