KARACHI: Multan Sultans coach Abdul Rehman praised the captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan as the 2021 champions of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) have won six out of seven games and qualified for the playoffs of the ongoing season after defeating Karachi Kings at the National Bank Stadium on Sunday night.

Rehman, who replaced Andy Flower as the head coach ahead of the PSL 2024 after working as an assistant coach for five years, said at a post-match press conference: “Without doubt, Rizwan is a great captain, and the proof is in the form of the positive results. But the decision to pick the captain of the national team is in the hands of those sitting in the echelons of power.”

About the improvement in the bowling of Usama, Rehman said that he is a great bowler and has been doing well in the T20s. It is Sultans’ good luck that he has regained his form, he said.

The emergence of the century-maker Usman Khan, who is playing in PSL as an overseas player from the UAE despite being born in Pakistan, has taken everyone by storm due to his exceptional batting skills. “I didn’t see him in first-class cricket. It was Andy Flower’s recommendation to induct him as he played for him in a franchise in the UAE,” Rehman revealed.
