Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2023 paparazzi car chase incident that happened in New York City has finally prompted increased security for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The New York Police Department concluded in a letter that they decided in September 2023 that the paparazzi pursued Harry and Meghan in a “reckless” way.

Although the couple did not press charges, they will get increased security for their future visits to the Big Apple, as per NBC New York.

The news comes after The Daily Beast’s report of a December 2023 statement from the NYPD that said the car chase “could prompt arrests.”

“We found the following: reckless disregard of vehicle and traffic laws and persistently dangerous and unacceptable behaviour on the part of the paparazzi during the night in question,” the NYPD intelligence stated to the Metropolitan Police in London.

“Our conclusion, upon review with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, is that we have sufficient evidence to arrest two individuals for reckless endangerment.”

Harry, 38, and Meghan, 42 visited the Big Apple with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland in May 2023, for the 2023 Women of Vision Awards, where Meghan was one of the honourees.

While returning from the venue, the trio was chased by many photographers, pursuing the taxi that the group hired to get back to their hotel.
