Emily Blunt is in discussions to star along Dwayne Johnson in the upcoming movie The Smashing Machine.

If tapped with confirmation, the Oppenheimer star will play the role of Dawn Staples, the new wife to MMA champion Mark Kerr.

While trying to settle down with Kerr, Dawn finds it difficult to adjust in “Mark’s chaotic and contradictory world,” as per Deadline.

The upcoming movie revolves around the life of Kerr, the legendary MMA fighter from the no-limit era of the UFC, set in the year 2000. The fighter struggles with addiction, winning, love, and friendship.

Throughout his MMA career, Kerr won significant honours and was a two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion, winner of the World Vale Tudo Championship tournament, PRIDE FC Heavyweight Champion, 1992 NCAA National Wrestling Champion, 1994 National Freestyle Champion, and a 4-time ADCC World Submission Champion.

In 2003, HBO also made a documentary with the same name, The Smashing Machine, on Kerr’s MMA career fighting in Vale Tudo, the UFC and PRIDE.

Johnson and Blunt previously co starred in the 2021 movie, Jungle Cruise.

The Red Notice star is also producing the movie with Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions.
