Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam has attributed his good fortune to his mother after scoring a century against Islamabad United during the 13th match of the ongoing ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

"My mother came [to watch] for the first time. She's very happy. She enjoyed it. She always watches at home but she proved to be [a source of] good luck for me," Babar said during the post-match ceremony.

His statement comes after the star batter's ton played a crucial role along withArif Yaqoob's five-wicket haul to see Peshawar winning their third consecutive match by eight runs in the PSL.

A day earlier, Peshawar succeeded in restricting Islamabad to 193 at the loss of nine wickets after posting a 202-run target in the first innings.

Islamabad appeared poised for victory following a remarkable fourth-wicket partnership between Colin Munro and Azam Khan, but Yaqoob's four-wicket haul in the 19th over swung the momentum back in Peshawar's favour.

This marks the first instance in PSL history where a bowler has claimed four wickets in a single over, with Yaqoob concluding with figures of 5 for 27.
