Just one month after going up for sale, the modest Bellevue, Washington, house of Jeff Bezos that served as Amazon's original headquarters has already found a buyer.
The company, which is currently among the biggest and most valuable in the world, was started in 1994 by billionaire Jeff Bezos, 60, as an online book marketplace in the garage of the property, according to Barron's.
According to Amazon, which recently reproduced the room, Bezos reportedly rented the house for $890 a month and furnished the garage bare with a desk, computer, and standard office equipment.
The three-bedroom house, just 20 minutes from Seattle's downtown, was listed for $2.29 million in mid-January. As of Wednesday, the deal was still pending.
The ad with Lin Shen of Sea to Sky Realty, who could not immediately reply to a request for comment, said that the 1,540-square-foot property was "meticulously rebuilt" in 2001.
According to the listing, it features skylights that "create a bright and inviting atmosphere," a huge living area, and a kitchen with granite and maple.
Additionally, there's a fully fenced backyard with a big terrace for entertaining and a hot tub.
According to PropertyShark records, the house last changed ownership in 2019 when it sold for $1.52 million. The owner could not be identified by Mansion Global, and the seller's identity and the ultimate sale price will only be disclosed at the closing of the transaction.
Bezos was a devoted and longtime inhabitant of Seattle until recently. He declared in November that he was moving to Miami, where he has recently bought upscale real estate worth tens of millions of dollars.
For Bezos, however, that's little change; over the last two weeks, he's sold 50 million Amazon shares, bringing in a cool $8.5 billion.
