Addressing a protest meeting of his party, the JUIF top leader said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would continue to blackmail each other as their government would be run by hidden forces. “They will be sitting in parliament but will be at the mercy of outside forces,” he said.

Accusing the establishment of interference in February 08 elections, Fazlur Rehman said 75-year record of corruption in polls has been broken. He said he would not criticize defence forces but when the defence forces become political, then political force would face criticism.

He observed the PMLN got almost the same mandate in 2024 elections which they were given in the 2018 elections. “Then they were leveling allegations of rigging and now they are satisfied with the results,” he said, adding the PTI leadership’s reaction was the same.

At the same time, Fazlur Rehman said that his party was of the view that both 2018 and 2024 elections were rigged. He said his party would have to consider whether it should remain in the process of elections in future if parliament continues to lose its importance.

He said those selected with interference of establishment could not considered masses’ representatives. “Once again our hopes and desire for supremacy of Constitution and progress of democracy have been shattered,” he said.
